Tuesday, February 21, 2012 Across the road to the west Ole's has 1.5-kilometer loop that is actually ski skating quite nicely. Due to thin snow conditions, Ole's will be closed on Wed. and open Thursday and on from Noon to 4 pm, until there is more snow to ski on. Go-anywhere-any-time snowshoeing remains an excellently chosen alternative means of travel. Rent our shoes and explore the Pinnacle, or go off-campus to Lincoln Gap or other destinations where snow is more plentiful. If you are interested this weekend in a guided, naturalist snowshoe tour -- at Ole's or elsewhere -- please call ahead (802-496-3430) to make a reservation. Good news -- SALE! Our extended Presidents Week Sale is on, with almost everything in the shop -- skis, boots, clothing -- reduced by 10 to 30 percent. At some point soon, there will be skiable snow, and you want to be equipped and ready to rumble. The Paintball Biathlon scheduled for Sat., Feb. 11 has been postponed to Sat., Feb. 25 in hopes of better snow. Ole's own Peter Oliver has been voted Nordic Instructor of the Year by Vermont Sports Reader Poll. If you are already a ski skater, come to Peter's free skating clinics on Sunday mornings at 10AM. If you want to learn ski skating, call Peter for a lesson time and get started right. Yes, Ole's rents ski skating gear.
