Good Morning,

Holy Guacamole it is nice out there. Cold beautiful temps, little wind and full sun. Prime days to be at Ole's skiing, Trails are groomed up and are in superb condition. Things are amazing out there and we are living high. Cold today with a high only forecasted to be around 5 degrees. Who cares it is beautiful out and it is Cross Country, it is supposed to be cold out. If you come up and ski just wear appropriate clothing and stay in your abilities. Tomorrow it is supposed to be about as nice as it gets and we are psyched to enjoy what will prove to be the best weekend of skiing so far this winter. See yo soon.

OLE'S CROSS COUNTRY WILL BE HOSTING A JUNIOR SKI RACE SATURDAY JANUARY 22nd. ALL JUNIOR'S GRADES K THROUGH 8 ARE WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE AND RACE. YOU CAN ALSO JUST COME AND WATCH THESE LITTLE ATHLETES COME UP AND RACE FOR GLORY, (AND COOKIES!). WITH THE WEATHER AND AMAZING SNOW CONDITIONS.

THE RACE WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:




Registration:

Online registration is open until Friday January 21 at 9:00 pm (click the link below). Day of registration and bib pick up is open Saturday, January 22th from 11:30 AM - 1:15PM. Registration will close an hour before the scheduled start. Cost is $6 per skier. All registration payments will be in person on January 22nd - cash or check.

Race Technique & Course: The race technique will be freestyle (skate) except for lollipoppers and 1st/2nd Grade who will be skiing a classic race.


12:30 PM - Lollipop (Kindergarten/pre-K) ~.5km

12:45 PM - Grades 1/2 ~1km

1:15 PM - Grades 3/4 ~ 2km

1:45 PM - Grades 5/6 ~3km

2:15 PM - Grades 7/8 ~4km


A course map for each age group will be available at registration.



Start: The races will utilize Trail 1 on the west side of Airport Road. Races will start at 12:30 PM with the Lollipop age category. Start format will be a wave start for each age group.


12:30 PM- Lollipop(Kindergarten/pre-K) ~.5km

12:45 PM- Grades 1/2 ~1km

1:15 PM- Grades 3/4 ~ 2km

1:45 PM- Grades 5/6 ~3km

2:15 PM- Grades 7/8 ~4km



Results & Awards

Awards will happen in the finish area immediately following each race. Participants will receive a ribbon and a treat.


Facilities: There are no inside facilities at the venue please plan to be outside for the duration of the event. There is a porta-let outside the xc center.


ALL FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN PARTCIPATING IN THE RACE WILL HAVE A DISCOUNTED DAY TICKET OPTION FOR SKIING FOR THE DAY. CALL THE OLE'S SHOP WITH QUESTIONS.
