Best skiing all year for you up here right now. The snow soup that was on the trails yesterday dried out nicely last night. Leaving the snow mostly alone yesterday was the ticket. The snow turned to a sugary powder. With another inch of ultra cold and dry powder that fell overnight the trails are grooming out beautifully. Conditions are excellent. Come up and ski. Will update in a bit with a detailed trail report once grooming is completed. Upwards of 20KM will be combed and tracked for your skis here in just a little bit. Ski shop may open a little bit later today to facilitate grooming. 10AM at the latest. Get up here and ski.

Just out her in the Mountain Snow Mist.
After an annoyingly warm day yesterday, weather moved in. It started as just a little drizzle and ended with dropping about 3" of seriously moisture laden snow on the trails. It is a perfect refresh for the trails and we are looking good for the upcoming weekend.
With the warm at the onset of the precipitation, the snow base that is holding strong became slushy in many places. That in mind, and to give the snow pack a chance to drain and freeze I have only gone around the core trails and set a single lane with a classic track set. Going too crazy with the grooming right now will bring the water to the surface and create ice once things refreeze later today/tonight. It should pay off for tomorrow and this weekend.
Classic skiing should be nice today. It is a winter wonderland view out there with all of the snow hanging on the trees.
The trails will be groomed out extensively for tomorrow and the upcoming weekend. See you up here.

Spring skiing here in January. Temperatures started the day early at around 40 degrees this morning. They are supposed to stay right around there for most of the day. Trails are in shape and are skiing well, especially considering the low snow conditions.
Trails close into the center are the best but the #4 loop is skiing excellent as well #5 once you pass #7a Junction. #5 through the fields along E. Warren Rd. is thin/icy in spots but very ski-able.
#11, #2 (mostly) and #3 are the winners for quality. #1 is good in spots mostly with some thin and funk to negotiate. Use caution on the downhill sections through out the open terrain as occasional marked and unmarked hazards exist.
A decent Classic track is set on most of the open trails. In general, there is great snow out there. Some scratchy spots exist but everyone who went out yesterday had a blast.
While the air temps are going to be warm today, the highly consolidated base is firm underfoot and skiing nicely. Last night #11 was epic skiing and beautiful as it gets out there.
The weather forecast shows little bit of rain that is supposed to turn to snow for tonight/tomorrow. 1"-2" of snow if we are lucky. Maybe it will come in bigger. Think cold and snow. WILL IT.
Come up and enjoy the T-Shirt weather and surprisingly nice skiing. See you up here.
