We are deeply into winter here in East Warren, VT. Old school temps with excellent and abundant old school snow conditions. Just right for cross country skiing, where you build your own heat through kicking and gliding.

Just a tad chilly out there this morning. Currently about 10 below with a little bit of wind. Cold yes but beautiful too. Clean, crisp Arctic Air and dry powder in abundance.

I am making my rounds grooming this morning and skiers can expect all core trails to be buffed out with tracks re set once again by around 10AM. Trails #9 and #10 were groomed out yesterday with the big groomer and #6 was groomed out yesterday with tracks set from #4 to the #7 junction .

I have combed out the fields sections on the beginning of #9 and #6 once again this am. The heart of #6, down the big hill and along the brook were groomed with tracks set a few days ago. It will ski well with a bit of pow on top.

Temps are forecast to rise to around 5 degrees by mid morning and to almost double digits by mid afternoon Winds are supposed to decrease as the day progresses. When you come up, dress warm, bring your neck gaiter or balaclava. A bit of skiing, then coming in to enjoy the wood stove, hot drinks and soup, then doing a little more skiing is a great strategy for today. Ski smart, ski safe and check in.

The week ahead looks to be getting better and better with some snow potential for later in the week. See you up here.

A nice round of snow squalls moving through this morning giving us a really nice refresh on the trails. It was dumping snow a little bit ago but has started to lighten up. It is supposed to snow lightly here for the next little bit, come to and end and then drop temps through the morning.

Cold in the forecast but at the moment the winds are mellow. They may increase out of the NW as the day progresses, so tune your ski route to stay out of the breeze as best you can.

Suggested trails would be #5 skiing counter clock wise, the #4's especially #4a, #7 off of the #4's to #6 junction then back to# 7a which is sheltered and got a heavy groom this morning. Trails #1 and #11. should be really beautiful today also. The Airport loop, #2 and #3 will be skiing great too but are prone to wind. IF it picks up.

The outer loop trails, #9,#10 and #6 were groomed out the other day and should ski really nicely with some fresh pow on top. Keep in mind the outer loop is a commitment and best for advanced skiers. If time allows I may try to drag big boy groomer down to the Bundy, #10 and #6 junction and back. But either way that should be a fun powder ski out there. Stop in with questions on that route.

Conditions are great and February, which may be the best month for skiing, is off to a really great start.

Cold winter this season. I love it. Dress warm today, suck it up buttercups and come get your glide on. It beats 36 degrees and raining any time of year.

Wood stove is cranking out heat, I think Potato and leek soup is on the Menu today and we have cold/hot drinks and a plethora of snacks to help warm you up and refresh your cold bones.

See you up here.
